Social Work Chair
The School of Social Work at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) seeks nominations and applicants for Chair who possess an excellent record of educational leadership and professional and scholarly achievement. The chair will capitalize on human and financial resources to mentor faculty scholarship and communicate across internal and external constituencies to promote social justice and cultural diversity. This is a nine-month, tenured appointment at the rank of associate or full professor. Research area is open. Summer administration is required.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the skills, knowledge, and abilities to advance program development including strengthening our relationship with UMKC’s Inter-professional Educational Program and Institute for Human Development as well as interfacing with a new e-learning initiative across the University of Missouri System’s four-campuses in order to address the Grand Challenges for Social Work.
University of Missouri-Kansas City’s College of Arts & Sciences, School of Social Work
Established in 1999, the School of Social Work offers an advanced generalist MSW program within an urban community context, partnering with 250 sites that provide a wide range of field learning experiences for our students. Within UMKC it collaborates with professional schools of Dentistry, Education, Law, Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences, and Urban Planning. Since 2008, the School has collaborated with child welfare organizations in the development of workforce preparation and child welfare transformation traineeships. The School has six diverse full-time faculty and annually graduates 60+ MSW students.
