The Sociology Department is committed to helping those students who wish to expand their learning experiences beyond the classroom and into the community.

Sociology majors who have achieved at least 18 hours toward the major may wish to consider a community internship in a non-profit agency as a way to test out classroom learning and gain new skills beyond the classroom walls. Internships may also help one decide on a career path. Each semester there are opportunities for students to work with community agencies or organizations under the supervision of agency professionals and faculty from the department.

Contact Professor Deborah Smith for more information on Internships or to be matched with a community agency prior to enrolling.
