Many graduate students and faculty members in the Department of Chemistry participated in the 51st Midwest Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society in October. The meeting was held at the Hilton Hotel in Manhattan, Kansas. The Midwest Regional Meeting offers an opportunity for chemists at UMKC and other universities in the midwest region to present their research, offers workshops for graduate students, and gives industries a chance to meet the talent in the midwest.
Forrest Black, a Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Geosciences, spent this past fall semester interning at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia.
As an intern, Black helped develop a tool that can ingest standard weather data and flight trajectory data for analyzing the impact of weather on aviation operations. He will stay in Virginia to work on this project throughout the spring 2017 semester. Continue reading
