Master of Art in Studio Art

Students graduating with an master's degree in studio art will be prepared for entry into an M.F.A. program or a career in their chosen field.

Master of Arts in Studio Art

As of Fall 2021, the MA in Studio Art program is no longer accepting new applicants and UMKC's Department of Art & Art History is in the process of discontinuing our Studio Art graduate degree.

The course of study for each student is designed in consultation with the lead professor in the student's primary discipline, who will act as their principal art advisor. Our studio art faculty includes accomplished and actively exhibiting artists, offering courses in drawing, painting, graphic design, print media, digital imaging, motion design and photography.

Proximity to and professional connections with the museums, studios and organizations in Kansas City’s arts community offer students additional opportunities for internships, access to visiting artists and enrichment programs to supplement coursework outside of the classroom.
